Preventing Illness, Disease, and Other Health Issues

When you bring your dog in for their wellness visit, we’ll conduct a comprehensive nose-to-tail examination. This exam allows us to develop a better understanding of your canine companion’s baseline health. It also allows us to more easily track changes in their health as they occur. Monitoring health changes over time is important because we’re more likely to detect diseases earlier and treat them more successfully.

Please feel free to ask any questions you have about your dog’s health during these visits, whether it’s related to diet, behavior, or training.

The Exam

First, we start with a physical exam to assess your pet’s outward health (and oral health) for any sign of problems. With every annual exam, we'll become more familiar with your pet.

Diagnostics

Next, we suggest blood and fecal testing to screen for parasites and diseases. This gives us a more complete picture of your pet’s overall condition and, if necessary, we can suggest treatment to help.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are another key aspect of your pet’s wellness care. Our veterinarians will always recommend vaccines that best suit your pet’s lifestyle, along with a schedule to keep them on track.

Education

With concern for your pet's health, collaboration is always key. During your visit, we'll answer any questions you have to ensure that we're both on the same page regarding their care.

Why Parasite Control is Important for Pets

Dogs and cats need routine parasite control to keep fleas, ticks, and various intestinal worms at bay. More than just pests, these parasites can spread disease and cause serious illness, which is why year-round parasite prevention is so important. We also recommend yearly heartworm testing, fecal testing and tick-borne disease testing.
